Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Gulf Coast Town Center after the report of a carjacking Thursday.

A woman told deputies someone carjacked her when she stopped along I-75 to feed her baby with another woman in the car as well. She claimed a man got into her SUV and began attacking her with her baby, and she says she drove almost 100 mph before ending up at the corner by Starbucks and Chipotle at the town center.

That’s when she told deputies the carjacker ran off.

According to Naples Daily News, deputies searched on the ground and in air during the morning in and around the shopping center, and a sheriff’s office K-9-unit walked the area around Costco and behind World of Beer.

We spoke to the manager at World of Beer there to find out what she saw.

“We do not know; we just saw a bunch of police cars go by. We heard that they were going to go by Chipotle and Starbucks, and we never really heard anything until you came in and told us,” General Manager Lisa Ainzu said. “It’s a little bit scary just to know that there’s someone running around the plaza, and we don’t know where he is. So I’m just a little worried for my staff safety.”

We haven’t learned any information from the sheriff’s office about the carjacking, including whether deputies have made an arrest.
