An 87-year-old Rotonda West man was critically injured in a crash in Englewood East Wednesday afternoon.

An SUV driven by a 20-year-old Punta Gorda man was stopped facing west on Regina Drive at the intersection of Sunnybrook Boulevard around 2:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The Rotonda West man was in a pickup truck traveling south on Sunnybrook Boulevard, approaching Regina Drive, when the SUV then drove in front of him.

The front of the pickup collided with the front right portion of the SUV, which spun into the
west grassy shoulder while the pickup spun before stopping on Regina Drive.

The Rotonda West man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
