Pedestrian killed in Fort Myers hit-and-run crash, police find car

A pedestrian has died as a result of a hit-and-run crash. This happened in Fort Myers just after 9:45 p.m. The car has since been found.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department,  a man with a walker was attempting to cross Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when he was hit by a vehicle. This was near the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Hendry Street.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The victim has been identified as Michael Raducanu. He’s 59-years-old and from Fort Myers.

The vehicle left the scene and FMPD describes it as a black 2012 Infinity hardtop convertible. There is front-end damage to the car and damage to the windshield plus, damage to the passenger mirror.

Both east and westbound lanes on MLK Blvd were blocked due to the deadly crash.

Police say the road was closed for several hours and to avoid the area if possible.

The car was seen traveling southbound on I-75 toward Collier County. FMPD believes the car could’ve been headed towards Naples or Lely at approximately 11:35 p.m.
