Lee County School Board released a letter Friday that expressed its commitment to the Guatemalan community following comments that were recently made by a school board member. The letter was signed by all board members.

“We as members of the Lee County School Board stand steadfast in our commitment to foster an inclusive educational environment where the Guatemalan community and all communities are treated with dignity and respect by all members of the educational community including their elected representatives,” the board sent in its letter.

Board member Chris Patricca, Lee County Schools and the school board came under scrutiny after she made comments about Guatemalan students in the District during a virtual Estero community forum.
