A dozen cats were rescued from horrible conditions. Three of them were so malnourished and sick they had to be put down.

Wednesday, Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Luuly Quang, 64, at her home in Lehigh Acres, where deputies found pets in poor living conditions.

LCSO says it found insect infestations, feces, urine and trash everywhere. They also found skeletal remains of an animal.

Deputies previously rescued another dozen cats from the home two years ago.

“We have to protect those that cannot protect themselves,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. “It sickens me that we’re sitting here talking about an animal cruelty case, especially someone has a past history an arrest for animal cruelty.”

Quang faces charges for animal cruelty and a probation violation. She appeared before a judge Thursday morning.

Quang remained in custody at Lee County Jail Thursday, with her bond set at $10,000. She cannot have any animals before her next court date.
