Tropics remain busy

Happy Sunday, SW Florida!

Your Sunday looks great with a mixture of sun & clouds, with the possibility of a stray shower. Otherwise, it’s looking warm and humid with a high of around 90 degrees. Expect similar weather to start the work week, by midweek, a few isolated storms could work their way into your forecast.

In the tropics, we’re watching three areas. Sam remains a powerful hurricane, but is slowly weakening, and is headed out to sea. The same can be said about Victor, which is now a tropical depression. Victor will also dissipate over the central Atlantic over the next few days.

A new area of disturbed weather is being highlighted by the NHC, which gives a low 20% chance of development as it moves northwest over the next five days. Water is plenty warm and shear doesn’t look overly unfavorable, however, models are not very excited about it. We’ll keep an eye on it, but even if something were to form, it would stay well east of the WINK viewing area. Next name is Wanda.
