Two taken to hospital after shooting in Fort Myers

Two people were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital after a shooting in Fort Myers. The extent of their injuries is not known.

The Fort Myers Police Department confirmed the shooting occurred near Royal Palm Avenue and Dora Street at around noon.

According to police, no one is in custody. Police said they do not believe it’s connected to an overnight shooting at the Sea Chest Motel in which no one was injured.

Police declined to release details about what happened because they are still looking for the shooter. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.
