The Greater Pine Island Water Association has issued a precautionary boil water notice for Bokeelia and portions of Pine Island Center.

The association says all areas north of the Winn-Dixie Shopping Plaza are impacted, due to a line break.

They recommend boiling water for at least one minute before consuming, once the water service is restored. The association also says you can use bottled water instead.

Another recommendation GPIWA provides is that you run your hose or spigot for several minutes once the water is restored to flush the lines out. This is to help clear out any minerals that may have been stirred up due to loss of pressure.

The Greater Pine Island Water Association apologizes for any inconvenience and says it will notify residents once the water is back on.

You can contact the association by calling 239-283-1071 or by following this link.
