Lower rain chances today; Tropics very busy

Sunday is looking great with partly cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms this afternoon as drier air starts filtering into the area. Otherwise, expect a warm day with highs in the lower 90s.

The tropics remain very busy with Category 4 Hurricane Sam being the main focus. Sam is expected to remain a major hurricane for at least the next five days, the good news is Sam is forecast to miss the Lesser Antilles and head out to sea.

Behind Sam, there are two other areas that could develop over the next five days. While neither of these waves pose any immediate threat to our area, these waves will be worth keeping an eye on as they move westward towards the Caribbean heading into the month of October. There’s another area north of Sam with a low chance of development, but its of no concern to us in SW Florida.
