Sometime Tuesday morning, an autopsy report will officially determine whether or not the remains found at the Spread Creek campsite in Jackson, Wyoming, belong to missing Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito.

The FBI wants to get this done; once it is known how Petito likely died, the investigation can move forward and her family can have some closure.

As the sun set in Wyoming Monday night, law enforcement cleared the scene where those remains were found. A forensics team marked certain areas with paint and a pink ribbon, and there was seen a makeshift memorial with a cross made out of rocks.

One woman who has hiked the area and visits every summer said she had to see the scene for herself.

“I was glad they found her, gives some closure to the parents… move things along in their investigation… it’s a sad thing,” said Barbara Carlson. “This doesn’t happen around here very all that much.”

Late Monday night, the FBI evidence response team left the area with large trucks.
