1 Immokalee teenager killed, 1 seriously injured in ATV crash

An Immokalee teenager was killed and another seriously injured in an ATV crash Sunday morning.

According to the Florida Highway patrol, the ATV had four occupants, all teenage boys from Immokalee: The driver was 13 and the passengers were 14, 16 and 15. None were wearing helmets. They were traveling east around 10:10 a.m. on Neely Davis Road near County Road 830 in Felda, an unincorporated community in Hendry County, east of Fort Myers, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and lost control.

The vehicle overturned and came to rest on Neely Davis Road. The 14-year-old passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 13-year-old driver was transported to Lehigh Regional Medical Center where he remains in serious condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
