A Collier County man was arrested for stealing hundreds of gallons of fuel from a farm.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Ramon Aranda confessed to deputies that he had stolen fuel on Sunday and returned to get more on Tuesday.

The theft occurred on Oil Well Road.

On Sunday, farm employees discovered that a company lock was missing on one of the gates of the property and another strange lock was on it.

The employees decided to leave the strange lock on to see if anyone returned. They also set up a trail camera that would alert them if someone was at the gate.

The suspect returned and the camera alerted them. The property manager called the sheriff’s office.

Aranda faces charges of grant theft and unlawful conveyance of fuel, both felonies, and trespassing.
