A caregiver is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars in jewelry from an older woman.

Naples Police Department arrested Johaan Gabrielle Reynosa Elisca, 21, Monday for grand theft/exploiting an elderly person after the family she was serving accused her of stealing a safe with $45,000 in jewelry inside.

According to the NPD Facebook post, the safe was discovered to be missing from an 84-year-old woman’s home shortly after her husband died recently.

Investigators says Elisca, who was providing end-of-life care to the husband, took the safe and pawned the jewelry in Lee County. Detectives were able to recover several items of jewelry and return them to the victim.

Elisca faces charges for Grand Theft from a Person 65 YOA or Older $10,000 – <$50,000 and Exploitation of Elderly/Disabled Adult $10,000 – <$50,000.

There was no booking page available for Elisca through Collier County jail Monday night.
