NCH Community Blood Center hosting blood drives to honor 9/11 victims

NCH Community Blood Center has announced that in honor of the lives lost on 9/11, it will be holding multiple blood drives at fire districts and at Waterside Shops in Naples. The blood center believes the best way to pay tribute to the lives taken is to give the gift of life by donating blood.

Donors who successfully give blood at the following locations will receive commemorative t-shirts while supplies last:

Thursday, September 9

  • NCH Community Blood Center’s Donor Center
    located inside NCH North Naples Hospital

    8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Bonita Fire Control & Rescue

    9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, September 10

Saturday, September 11

    NW corner of Seagate Dr. & US 41 adjacent to Barnes & Noble
    8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

According to Community Blood Center, donors can safely give blood every 56 days. The minimum age to give blood is 16 with a parent present. There is no upper age maximum. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, should eat prior to giving blood and must be well hydrated.

Photo ID and face masks are required at donation time. The entire process from registrations to refreshment takes about 45 minutes. The actual blood draw takes 7 minutes.

Each pint of donated blood can save up to three lives. You can visit the website or call (239) 624-4120 for more information. All blood products collected by the Community Blood Center remain within the community to benefit local patients in need. CDC & FDA guidelines are being followed
