A dog who attacked its owners in Englewood has been euthanized.

The attack happened after a woman began to have a seizure in their home in the 2900 block S. McCall Road on Aug. 18.

When a Charlotte County deputy arrived on scene, they heard a commotion coming from inside the house, so he opened the door.

A deputy saw that the dog was attacking the couple and ended up tasing the dog before it ran into the bathroom. The deputy was able to close the door and kept the dog contained while the woman was helped.

The woman suffered puncture wounds on her neck from the dog, according to deputies and the man was is in critical condition.

The woman’s husband tried to stop it but the dog began to attack him.

Both victims of the attack were flown to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Charlotte County Animal Control said the dog, who was named Blue, was euthanized on Aug. 27.

According to the latest update on Thursday, the woman is recovering from her injuries, but her husband is “not doing well.” No further specifics were given.

Animal Control said the couple had to give up a second dog and their daughter has to give up her dog, too, who lives in the same home.
