Ida still a category 2 hurricane, no impacts in SW Florida

Published: Updated:

Happy weekend, SW Florida.

Hurricane Ida won’t have much of an impact on our weather this weekend, with the area receiving typical scattered showers & storms, and highs in the lower 90s.

Hurricane Ida is a category two hurricane as of the 11 p.m. advisory. It is expected to become a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane before striking Louisiana on Sunday night. Ida poses no threat to SW Florida.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Ten has formed in the tropical Atlantic. TD Ten is forecast to become tropical storm Julian, but should safely stay out to sea.

There are two other areas that we’ll be watching as they both have a high chance of development within the next 5 days.
