Tyrone Darnel Witty, 32. Credit: Lee County Sheriff’s Office. U.S. Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Task Force arrested Tyrone Darnel Witty, 32, in Lehigh Acres, U.S. Marshals confirmed Thursday. Witty is accused of a recent kidnapping at Page Field Commons in south Fort Myers. Lee County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for the suspect after the kidnapping at the shopping plaza that took place Aug. 21. Tyrone Darnel Witty, 32 Investigators say, while a woman stepped away from her car to return a shopping cart, Witty took the car and sped off. There were still at least two people inside the car. After driving roughly 4 miles away, they say Witty got out and ran. One of the people in the car jumped into the driver’s seat and drove to get away from the area. There is no further information at this time. Witty faces charges for robbery, kidnapping and obstruction of justice. Witty is in custody at Lee County Jail without set bond.
