A 19-year-old woman from Immokalee was killed and four others were hospitalized after a crash on Corkscrew Road between Alico Road and Burgundy Farms Road in Lee County Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened around 1:45 p.m. and eastbound lanes were shut down for hours before the road reopened.

According to the crash report, the driver of a sedan was traveling west on Corkscrew Rd. east of Alico, approaching a curve in the road. At the same time, those traveling in a pickup truck were heading east on Corkscrew, approaching the curve.

The truck’s driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
