Credit: WINK News. Following the news of the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan after the long-awaited U.S. withdrawal, many veterans are struggling with how it’s playing out. Now, several organizations are trying to help. The images and videos coming from Afghanistan have been hard to watch, especially for veterans who fought overseas. Many say they feel upset over a lack of planning for the evacuation that has been playing out at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. A Kansas VFW is hosting informal meetings for all veterans to share their feelings about the current situation overseas as well as any other experiences they want to open up about. They say it’s giving vets support and a voice to speak up. Southwest Florida is home to many American veterans. Here are several resources that are offering to help.
