Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire at a Fort Myers apartment building Wednesday morning.

Police and firefighters responded to a call received around 6:20 a.m. for a fire at an apartment building off Central Avenue. They were able to knock down a door to rescue a dog inside, but no people were inside at the time.

Authorities are trying to notify people living there, and the fire marshal is currently investigating exactly where and how the fire started.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
