Record 471 COVID patients being treated in Lee Health hospitals Tuesday

Lee Health held a news conference at Noon as they break another daily record of 455 COVID-19 patients isolated in hospitals Wednesday. Later in the day, the number of patients increased to 471.

The hospital CEO and doctors reiterated the importance of getting the vaccine and wearing masks in public as the number of COVID-19 pediatric patients continues to grow.


The following is based on the initial morning number of 455 patients. A breakdown on the updated total has not been released.

Based on the morning total; 20.1% of the 455 admitted COVID-19 patients are fully vaccinated, according to their medical charts, Lee Health said.

Yesterday, they saw 80 new COVID-19 hospital admissions and 44 COVID-19 discharges.

Currently, 69% of the ventilators and 7% of ICU rooms are available for use. 35 COVID-19 patients are on ventilators and 64 in the intensive care unit.

Lee Health’s current census is at 94% of staffed operational bed capacity.
