Apparent Jeep fire severely damages home in Iona

A fire that appeared to have started as a car fire spread to the home causing a significant amount of damage Monday morning.

According to Fire Marshal Ed Steffens, the Iona McGregor Fire District crews responded to the fire on Cypress Drive, off McGregor Boulevard, in south Fort Myers.

The home and vehicle sustained extensive smoke and fire damage but the exact cause is still under investigation.

There were no injuries.

Fire Marshal Steffens said he is “proud of the rapid knockdown and the work of all crews involved.”
