A motorcyclist was killed and another critically injured in a three-vehicle crash south of Fort Myers Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a motorcycle driven by a 29-year-old man from Davenport, Florida, was traveling south in the outside lane on McGregor Boulevard, approaching Lake McGregor Drive around 8:07 p.m. A car driven by a 28-year-old Fort Myers woman with a 6-year-old boy and a 2-year-old boy as passengers was traveling south in the outside lane on McGregor Boulevard, in front of the first motorcycle. A second motorcycle driven by a 35-year-old Port Charlotte man was traveling south in the outside lane on McGregor Boulevard, behind the first motorcycle.

The first motorcycle tried to pass the car by merging onto the inside lane. The front of the motorcycle hit the car and traveled toward the right paved curb and overturned. The second motorcycle veered right to avoid that crash and collided with the curb. The Davenport man was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital and later pronounced dead. The Port Charlotte man was transported in critical condition.
