A Fort Myers man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he committed sexual battery against a child under 12.
Lee County deputies went to a home in Lehigh Acres after being tipped off to a sex crime. While there, they say they learned the suspect, Johnny Jackson, 30, had committed said crime against a preteen. Jackson ran away from the scene shortly before deputies arrived, but he was soon found and detained.
Special victims unit detectives assumed the investigation, after which they say they obtained probable cause to arrest Jackson, who now faces a charge of capital sexual battery and another of lewd and lascivious molestation.
Jackson is currently being held at the Lee County Jail. A bond amount has not been set. He is expected to appear in front of a judge Friday morning.
