Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire without injuries Friday.

According to CCFD, firefighters were in the 2000 block of NE 6th St, where crews were able to quickly extinguish flames consuming a pickup truck. The cause was determined to be a mechanical malfunction while the truck was running.

Truck owner Matthew Spanier told us he was forced to pull over when his truck started smoking, and he said it was fully engulfed by the time firefighters got to the scene. He says he was driving to a repair shop when it happened.

“I’m not going to lie; I was pretty torn up; I’ve had the truck for four years, put heart and soul, blood sweat and tears into this truck to keep it going,” Spanier said. “Just praise the lord for being here still.”
