Police recover backpack at Publix in Cape Coral, nothing suspicious found

Cape Coral Police Department responded to the report of a suspicious package at a Publix Thursday night. Police retrieved a backpack and did not find a threat.

According to CCPD, police were at the Publix located at 2420 Santa Barbara Boulevard S, just north of the intersection with Veterans Memorial Parkway.

A backpack was recovered on an outside bench. Police told us a battery with wires in it was found inside.

There is no further information at this time.
