Suspect shot and killed during home invasion, Collier County Sheriff’s Office says

A man was shot and killed during what detectives said was an attempted home invasion robbery in a Collier County gated community, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said the incident happened in Raffia Preserve around 4:30 a.m.

Detectives said the suspect fired a single gunshot through the front door of an occupied home. No one was injured.

According to the sheriff’s office, a resident of the home went outside where a confrontation ensued which led to the resident shooting the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the suspect that died.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
