Gabby Hartley believes that anything lost should be rightfully returned to its owner.

Even if that’s a 1,000 miles away.

Harley was visiting Fort Myers from Connecticut when she found a necklace in a cupholder of her rental car.

Three circles intertwined with two coordinate points, a date and a heart.

She did some research to find out where it came from.

“I kind of just looked up on Google maps what the coordinates went to, and I saw that it was from this bar called Max’s Taphouse,” Hartley said.

The taphouse is a bar in Maryland.

“It’s come from Baltimore to Florida, so it’s really important to someone.”

“The date is from 2014, so we’re thinking this must be something that someone has worn for a long time,” Hartley added.

Hartley reached out to Max’s Taphouse in hopes of reuniting the necklace with the woman who lost it.

Brina Furman manages Max’s Taphouse. She took the search for the rightful owner to social media.

And that’s when the magic happened.

“My boyfriend found the post just by scrolling Facebook,” said Starlene Marks.

Marks lost the necklace when she came to visit her father who lives in Cape Coral.

It was a Christmas gift from her boyfriend.

The coordinates lead straight to the place where her boyfriend Dan Lavin and Marks first met.

“I just thought it was a really nice way to really commemorate where we met and how long we’ve been together,” Lavin said.

Hartley’s mission to find the necklace’s owner was accomplished.

“It feels great,” Hartley said. “She was so excited to hear that it was back because she had said that she wasn’t even sure that she’d ever see it again.”

For Marks, having the necklace returned was unexpected.

“My few takeaways are that the internet can be good and second that people are awesome,” she said.
