A possible shooting is being investigated in Lehigh Acres, with the crime scene and roadblock clearing up after nearly 12 hours at around 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies blocked off Sunrise Boulevard from Andalucia Avenue South to Genoa Avenue South, a rural area with few homes around, to look into gunshots neighbors say they heard right outside. Between five and six gunshots were reported around 7 p.m. Monday night, with deputies arriving shortly after.

A Crime Scene Unit van with Lee County Sheriff’s Office pulled up to the scene just after 9 p.m., putting down around a dozen evidence markers. The mobile command center likewise showed up. WINK News reporters at the scene saw a body being removed from the grass on the side of the road, but it has not been confirmed by deputies if that was connected to the investigation or the reported gunshots.

A WINK News viewer said there were also at least four fire trucks on scene and that one of the deputies on scene told her they were investigating a shooting. LCSO has not provided any official details yet.

This is an active investigation. WINK News will update you when more information is available.
