FHP searching for vehicle in Charlotte County hit-and-run crash

Troopers are searching for a driver that fled from a crash in Charlotte County on Friday night.

The crash happened near mile marker 168 on southbound I-75 just before 9 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said an unknown vehicle, described as a 4-door black sedan, was traveling south and veered into another lane of travel and collided with a second vehicle.

The second vehicle, an SUV, collided with a guardrail and overturned.

The driver of the SUV, a 41-year-old North Port man, suffered minor injuries. A 39-year-old woman, also of North Port, suffered serious injuries. A 17-year teen boy, of North Port, suffered serious injuries. A 16-year-old teen girl, of North Port, suffered minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of people involved in traffic crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
