Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in Fort Myers. (CREDIT: WINK News) A woman was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital after a drive-by shooting in Fort Myers on Tuesday. The shooting happened near the Jones Walker apartments on Blount Street. Fort Myers police said the victim was in stable condition. The shooting took place at around 11:30 a.m. and caused a lockdown at nearby Royal Palm Exceptional School. Neighbors said they heard around six to seven shots. Jones Walker apartments have seen their share of violent crime in the past but have since undergone a makeover. “The one thing I can say it’s been improving,” said Girald Jackson, who lives there. “Over in this area, especially, it’s really been improving.” Submit Copyright ©2024 Fort Myers Broadcasting.
