There was quite a bit of debris left behind on North Naples beach after powerful storms passed through recently. Heavy rain and wind washed a beached boat farther up onshore and scattered its debris across the beach, right in the path of people enjoying the sand.

Beachgoers are concerned that the boat is a hazard and they want it moved.

Trish Clahr experienced the storms. “It was intense. It was loud. There was a lot of lightning and thunder, and there was heavy rain and a lot of wind,” Clahr said.

Sunday’s storm stirred up more than just a bit of water.

“Walking down here, we saw some other debris on the beach, some big blue barrels,” said Clahr.

Trish was wondering why the beautiful beach she enjoys had debris all over it.

“We saw this boat, and it had some big barrels on it, so we knew where the source was from,” Clahr said.

The Outrageous washed ashore… again. Six weeks ago, Randy Weaver ran into a storm and had some engine issues.

Kathryn Nadeau was out on Barefoot Beach. “You got to know where you are going you have to know the weather, and you have to know how many feet you drop,” said Nadeau.

The place he once lived now washed up and in pieces strewn across Barefoot Beach.

Katie Allmaras was at Wiggins Pass. “It’s not very inviting to see a bunch of debris on the beach,” she said.

Beachgoers still want the mess cleaned up, including the boat.

“I don’t know what happened to the boat, but they should be the ones taking care of it,” said Allmaras. “I should also be the one cleaning up my mess just like if you have trash in your hands, you should throw it in the garbage.”

The owner says that two different tow companies have tried to get the boat out of the water. They both blamed the trouble on the timing of the tides. They hope to have it cleaned up within the next week.
