A fatal crash involving two semi-trucks left one man dead and shut down Bermont Road in Charlotte County on Monday.

The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. at the intersection of Bermont and Chiquita Drive. The road was closed between State Roads 29 and 31 as investigators worked. The road was reported as reopened at about 4 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the two trucks were heading toward each other on Bermont when one driven by a 50-year-old Hialeah man crossed the center line and collided with the other truck, driven by a 50-year-old man from Miami Gardens.

The Hialeah man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver suffered minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
