Severe Thunderstorm Watch canceled for most of SW Florida as line moves southward

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was previously issued today has been canceled for Charlotte, Lee, Hendry, Glades, Desoto, and Highlands counties as of 5pm. The severe threat will continue to decrease from north to south as the main line of storms we’ve been tracking through the afternoon pushes southward.

The storms within this line have the potential to bring 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail along with heavy rain and lightning for those areas that have yet to see it move through.

Areas of rain will remain across the area into this evening and overnight, even after the severe threat has come to an end with conditions drying up by Monday morning.

Heading into the workweek, I think a few showers are possible Monday morning, but after that, we’ll dry out through midweek. The heat is on Tuesday as highs soar to near 90, but a shot of slightly cooler air will knock down our highs into the mid-80s midweek. Another chance of showers arrives for Friday, before we dry out again heading into next weekend.
