Happy Friday! Before we get to the weekend rain, expect a toasty afternoon across Southwest Florida as highs soar into the mid-upper 80s. Wind does turn breezy this afternoon, increasing our wave heights and fire danger indices once again. The high to very high fire danger index has expanded to DeSoto, Charlotte, Collier and Lee counties. Thankfully, much needed relief is on the way as rain arrives locally Sunday! Get those outdoor plans done on Saturday if you can. Rain and storms will begin Sunday morning and continue off and on throughout the day. A second round of scattered showers will move in on Monday once the front has passed to our south. Most areas across Southwest Florida can expect 0.50″ – 1.00″ of rain from now until Wednesday. Isolated higher totals are possible, mainly north of the Caloosahatchee.
