According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car driven by a 17-year-old boy from Port Charlotte was traveling north on Prineville Street, approaching Hineline Street around 8 p.m. Another car, driven by a 64-year-old man with a 60-year-old woman as passenger, both also from Port Charlotte, was traveling south on Prineville Street, approaching Hineline Street. The teenager’s car crossed the yellow center double-line in an attempt to pass an uninvolved vehicle traveling in the same direction. The front of his car collided with the front of the 64-year-old’s car, and both vehicles came to rest in the area of collision, charges are pending. Both occupants of the second car were critically injured. Charges are pending.
