Florida Forest Service and Bayshore Fire Protection and Rescue Service District responded to a brush fire that started at a homeowner’s property Tuesday.

According to the forestry service, crews are responding to what became a 3-acre brush fire at a private property on Aqua Vista Drive off Palm Creek Drive, and they have contained 95% of the fire as of 3:30 p.m.

Bayshore’s chief and forestry service confirmed the fire began as an unauthorized pile burn that spread on the homeowner’s property. He is a new homeowner and did not know he needed to call in the burn, and the spread was unintentional.

There are no injuries reported due to the fire.

Along with forestry and Bayshore Fire crews, units with Lee County EMS, North Fort Myers, Tice, Alva, Cape Coral, Lehigh and Fort Myers Shores fire crews also responded to the scene.

This is a developing story.
