An 83-year-old Bradenton man died in a wrong-way vehicle crash in Charlotte County early Saturday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was traveling north in the southbound lanes of US-41 approaching Evergreen Drive when it collided with a pickup traveling in the right direction. The wrong-way driver died on scene, troopers said. A 16-year-old girl from Georgia driving the pickup suffered minor injuries. A 13-year-old boy, also from Georgia, suffered minor injuries. Crystal Alence, 46, was a passenger in the vehicle and said she suffered multiple injuries, including four broken bones, two broken ribs and internal bleeding. Her face was also crushed, she said. “It may take up to a year for my face to work again and weeks before I can walk,” she added via email to WINK News.
