Approximate site of a crash in Lehigh Acres. Credit: Google Maps A Lehigh Acres man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck Thursday evening. The truck, driven by a 46-year-old man with an 11-year-old girl as passenger, both from Lehigh Acres, was traveling south in the outside lane of Homestead Road, north of Ashlar Avenue around 5 p.m. The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man, was standing on the west side of Homestead Road, just south of Ashlar Avenue, before he attempted to cross the travel lanes of Homestead Road. The front right part of the truck struck the man, leaving him on the west grass shoulder of the road. He was later transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
