A man has been arrested in connection to a 2018 hit-and-run crash.

According to Fort Myers police, on November 17, 2018, at approximately 2:24 a.m., offiers responded to a traffic crash on SR-82, just west of River Trent Court.

Officers saw two vehicles on the south side of SR-82, a black 2018 Volvo and a black 2016 Ford (no further vehicle description was provided).

The Ford was found on its side with the driver pinned inside, and the driver of the Volvo ran away.

EMS transported the driver of the Ford to Lee Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Officers Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with and K-9’s searched for the suspect to no avail.

After nearly 27 months, an investigator was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Marvin Preston for leaving the scene of a traffic crash with a serious injury. He also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Preston was arrested on March 31, by the Fort Myers Police Department traffic homicide unit.

FMPD added, “Thanks to the continued advancement in technology and constantly reviewing cases that may appear to have gone ‘cold’ we have made a successful arrest, which can begin to bring closure for this victim, who still to this day, remains under the care of a physician from injuries of this incident.”
