Near-record heat possible Wednesday before a late-week cooldown

Published: Updated:

Happy Hump Day! Highs will soar this afternoon to the upper 80s with near-record heat once again.

Even if we don’t get there, we are well above average with normal conditions for late March in the low 80s.

The summer-like pattern continues as spotty showers bubble up around 1 p.m. for parts of the region.

Eventually, the Gulf sea breeze develops and should push a lot of our rain inland and east of I-75.

A few areas of rain will continue into the evening hours and overnight. This is all ahead of a Thursday cold front!

The front will approach Southwest Florida in the morning, but expect multiple rounds of rain throughout the afternoon, too.

Behind it, we mix in cooler and drier air just in time for the long Easter weekend.

Highs will dip into the 70s with lows in the 50s, but we stay breezy!
