Police are investigating a shooting that reportedly took place at a Cape Coral home Tuesday night.

Cape Coral Police Department established a heavy presence around a house in the 900 block of Southeast 16th Place, around 10 p.m. where at least one person was shot.

Investigators were seen entering the home, searching the driveway, and inspecting the cars parked there.

The shooting may have taken place inside of the home, as no evidence markers were present on the ground.

“Don’t like to see that type of activity in your neighborhood,” said next-door neighbor Gary Corrigan. “But, at the same time, people have their issues, I guess.”

Corrigan described the scene he witnessed after the incident took place.

“When I walked outside to take a look and see what it was… like I told you, there was a young girl out here crying, she told me that someone had been shot,” Corrigan said. “We’re supposed to work together and be neighbors and be good to each other. Something like this isn’t good at all.”

WINK News captured footage of two women being detained at the time, but it’s unknown if they are still in police custody or what involvement they may or may not have had with the shooting.

“It’s a great neighborhood,” Corrigan said. “Something like this just isn’t good.”
