Charlotte County and developer Kolter Land formally dedicated the opening of the West Port community’s Centennial Boulevard on Thursday afternoon. The property is about 450 acres between US-41 and El Jobean Road. It will bring nearly 2,000 homes, condos and apartments once the community is completed. “You’ll be amazed at the amount of equipment and rooftops that you’ll start to see over the next six to 12 months,” said Jim Harvey, president of Kolter Land. “It’s a lot going to go on there.” There are plans to add a restaurant and retail space in the future. Model home construction is now wrapping up. The first homeowners are expected to move in this summer.
