A semitruck crashed into a patrol car and sent it into a crowd of people at the scene of a traffic stop. Amazingly, no one was seriously hurt in the crash.

Dashcam video from a state trooper’s cruiser shows how a split-second lapse of judgment can lead to a death-defying situation.

A Polk County deputy car in front of the state trooper’s could be seen driving out onto I-4 in Lakeland when it was hit by a semitruck.

A Polk County deputy stopped to see if everything was OK with a traffic stop with a state trooper. As he pulled out onto the interstate, his cruiser was hit by the semi.

It then hit the trooper’s car and a group of bystanders, knocking one person down and sending two others running for cover.

The deputy was treated and released from the hospital. The man who was knocked down is OK.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office says the crash could have been avoided if the semitruck driver followed the state’s “move over” law.

That’s where you move over to one lane or slow down if emergency crews are on the side of the road.

If you don’t, you could be fined $160 and get three points on your license.
