Vaccine appointments in Southwest Florida are still hard to come by while in other areas of the state the need has lessened.

All of the appointments in Publix were gone in 15 minutes on Wednesday.

And a check of appointments at CVS, Walgreens and Winn-Dixie show there are none available.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was in Naples on Wednesday, said the demand for the vaccine is slowing across the state, but not in Southwest Florida.

“Maybe they find another part of the state,” DeSantis said suggesting people drive to other areas of Florida for a shot. “I’ll tell you this, most parts of the state, the demand is more tepid than it was six weeks ago. People are having an easier time getting on,” DeSantis added.

Also, on Wednesday, DeSantis announced that 100 more Walgreens and 30 CVS would be distributing vaccines.

It’s unknown if any of those new locations will be in Southwest Florida.
