Law enforcement are working the scene of a fatal crash on North River Road in Alva on Sunday morning. (Credit: WINK News) A driver struck a pair of bicyclists in Alva on Sunday morning, killing one before leaving the scene, troopers say. The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened at 8:30 a.m. on North River Road just west of Sands Drive. The bicyclists were traveling in a group eastbound on N. River Rd. when they were struck from behind. A 64-year-old Fort Myers woman was killed and a 49-year-old Bonita Springs woman was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, according to the FHP. The vehicle that struck the pair left the scene. No description of the vehicle or its driver has been given. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call *FHP or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS. Trust WINK News for updates.
