There is extended surveillance video Wednesday that shows a male driver, who ran over a woman with his pickup truck in Lee County Monday, spent at least two minutes in the parking lot.

A big question that remains unanswered is why the woman was on the ground of a Cracker Barrel restaurant parking lot.

In the recording, the truck never stops, and the hit-and-run suspect has not been named or brought into custody. The woman from Cape Coral is still in the hospital.

“Oh, that’s disgusting,” Ray Hodgdon said. “How could a human being do something like that to another human being?”

“It’s shocking that you still don’t feel that or to stop, both parties,” Kristi Solomon said. “It’s a little strange to me.”

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the truck was a Ford F-250, and the woman never sees what hits her in the restaurant parking lot of Palm Beach Boulevard.

“By leaving you are committing a crime,” FHP Lt. Greg Bueno said.

Bueno told us he hopes everyone watching has the same reaction he did.

“The video speaks volumes to what needs to be known at this point, and we certainly want to locate that vehicle and the driver,” Bueno said.

Community members we spoke to are in disbelief after watching the surveillance of the incident and are at a loss for the reasoning behind the hit-and-run.

“You can feel a human being,” Hodgodon said. “She probably weighed 110 pounds or something. You can feel that. Why he didn’t stop and why he drove slowly is beyond my belief.”

“You would definitely have to feel that, and I feel like if you were pulling a trailer, at least with me, I would be thinking, looking, and listening for everything or even one small bump in the road,” Solomon said. “So yeah, slow as you’re going in a parking lot, it’s very strange.”

If you can identify the suspects or have any information, submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477) and be eligible for a cash reward.
