An Immokalee man was arrested Saturday after deputies say he crashed his van into a parked SUV and was then found passed out behind the wheel.

A Collier County deputy responded Saturday morning to a home on North 18th Street in Immokalee after a resident reported the crash, and found Steven Trujillo, 38, behind the wheel of a still-running Dodge Caravan.

The driver’s side door was open and Trujillo still had on his seatbelt, the deputy reported. He smelled of alcohol and was slumped behind the wheel, according to the arrest affidavit. The van’s engine was still running and the vehicle was in drive, but it was unable to go forward any further due to being wedged into the bumper of the SUV.

The deputy put the van in park and turned it off before waking Trujillo, who had no knowledge of where he was or that he had crashed, the deputy said.

Trujillo was extremely intoxicated, according to the report, and the deputy decided against performing any sobriety exercises for fear Trujillo would injure himself.

Two baggies of cocaine were found with Trujillo and another baggie was found inside his van. A total of .62 grams was confiscated.

Trujillo remains in the Collier County Jail. He faces charges of DUI with property damage and possession of cocaine.
