Collier County Sheriff’s deputies arrest stabbing suspect in Immokalee

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of stabbing someone in Immokalee.

The call of a stabbing “at a rooming house” on South 4th Street just before 11 p.m. on Thursday night, according to CCSO.

The arrest report says that the victim was in his room when the suspect, 36-year-old Obduliu Godines, who also lives in the building, kicked the door open. He was holding a knife and said, “I’m going to kill you now.”

Then the victim tried to use his backpack as a shield but Godines stabbed him in his left arm. The suspect then left the victim’s room and barricaded himself inside of his own room.

Once deputies arrived on the scene, they ordered Godines to come out of his room several times in English and Spanish. Once he emerged, deputies saw him drop the knife from his left pocket, as he was told to put his hands up.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Obduliu Godines was arrested and could be charged with burglary with battery and aggravated battery.
