Are you looking for simple and affordable living? One company wants to bring tiny homes to Southwest Florida with that promise.

More than two hundred tiny homes could be coming to a new community in Charlotte County and it may be a game-changer for folks wanting to own on a budget.

Mike McCann is the president & CEO of Simple Life Ventures. he says, “Simple Life is just that. We’re just trying to simplify life.”

The company plans to build its second Florida tiny home community at 12100 Burnt Store Road, which is about 2.5 miles south of US-41.

“We’re not age-restricted, but really, we see 40 plus to 70 looking for higher quality, but lower footprint, lower cost.”

The homes are teeny, tiny – as small as 400 square feet. They’re only 1-2 bedrooms and ideal for singles or couples. And The price tag starts at $130,000.

Owners will also have to lease the land and pay a lifestyle fee.

Charlotte County Commissioner Stephen R. Deutsch said, “Maybe this may be some solution to dealing with our rental situation.”

We asked McCann if he thinks it could help alleviate the affordable housing issue we have here in Southwest Florida.

He said, “There are many solutions that need to be focused on, but I think we’re focusing on being part of that solution.”

Charlotte County commissioners approved the rezoning of land for up to 230 units.

McCann says with regard to simple living, “It’s in our name. We hope to convey that we’ve made life simpler. But we haven’t taken away any of the quality.”

With big plans for the future.

Simple Life Ventures still needs to get its building permits approved by the County.

McCann hopes to break ground in the summer, with the first homeowners occupying homes in early next year.
